For each piece of content (post or page), content managers can define various publishing settings. These settings are usually configured in the "Publish" widget shown at the top right side of the edit form.

About the Publishing Settings
Status:
- set to draft if you're not ready to reveal to the public on the site and want to come back and edit further before publishing
- set to pending review if you have an editorial review workflow for another site manager/editor to review and publish the content
Visibility:
- set to public if you want the content to be available to all visitors
- set to password protected if you want the content to only be available to people who know a given password (upon selection, you can set the password just for the active piece of content)
- set to private if you want the content to only be available to people logged into the site with proper permissions to view the private content
Publish Date:
- Immediately- inherits current time and date of webserver when the Publish button is clicked, making content live
- Predefined date and time- automatically publishes content at the time/date defined
