Content Type Overview

Your Custom Content

Before being able to manage content, please review the following breakdown/summary of the custom content types for this site:

  1. Standard Content Types (Public Facing):
    1. Posts - the majority of content stored in WordPress is treated as a "post".  Posts are usually displayed as teasers in both list or grid formats and as individual detail page formats.  The most common use for a "post" is a blog article.
    2. Pages - standalone pages such as an "About" page are usually created using the "page" content type.
  2. Custom Content Types & Categories (Public Facing):
    1. TBD - on many occasions, a customized WordPress build will include custom content/post types- that have additional fields of data.  Example use cases for such content types might be News content or event content.

  3. Custom Content Types & Categories (Private, for Internal Use only):
    1. TBD - on rare occasion, a customized WordPress build will include custom content types or categories that are used for classifying/grouping data and are used to enforce business rules/logic for the site.  This content is generally not available for pubic view.

  4. Elements used throughout site & Categories (Blocks/Widgets):
    1. TBD - some elements/parts of the site are managed in one edit form, but appear across mulitple sections of the site.  Such elements are typically "widgets" in WordPress.
